Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
